During Trados Studio startup, the following error is displayed:

Service 'Sdl.TranslationStudio.Api.ProjectManagement.IProjectManagementService' could not be started

Further various exceptions in addition to the main error message:

1. additional information: Sdl.ProjectApi.Implementation, System.Xml
2. additional exception: System.UnauthorizedAccessException
3. additional exception: No free disk space when starting Studio for the first time after installation
4. additional exception: Not enough quota is available to process this command.

Solution for error Service 'Sdl.TranslationStudio.Api.ProjectManagement.IProjectManagementService' could not be started (and for Sdl.ProjectApi.Implementation, System.xml)

1. Close Trados Studio or the error message
2. Go to C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Studio 20XX\Projects on your system
3. Delete the projects.xml file
4. Start Trados Studio and browse for your projects again in Projects view, from the Open Project button

If this doesn't work, Reset Trados Studio to its default state.
 

Solution for System.UnauthorizedAccessException

1. Create a new folder named Studio 201X (where X is the number of the version of Trados you have) at C:\Users\%username%\Documents.
2. Create another folder inside the newly created Studio 201X folder, named Project Templates.

Solution for No free disk space

Make sure Trados is able to generate folder with a few small files at location: %userprofile%\documents (C:\Users\%username%\Documents)
If granting access still doesn't solve the issue click on Start > write in the Search regedit.exe > Run regedit.exe with Run as Administrator.
Once open go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders and make sure that the Personal registry is with this path: %USERPROFILE%\Documents



If you do not have the path specified previously, right click on the Personal registry > Modify > add path %USERPROFILE%\Documents

There may be different underlying causes, depending on the exception:

1. Sdl.ProjectApi.Implementation, System.xml --> The User information in Trados contains a special character (need to edit the User Profile). You can verify this by opening the projects.xml file and look for UserID and then check the fields there. Or the settings file projects.xml contains corrupt information and needs to be re-created. 
2. System.UnauthorizedAccessException --> No permission to write at location C:\Users\%username%\Documents
3. No free disk space --> There is no available disk space (by security policy) or no permission to write at location C:\Users\%username%\Documents
4. Not enough quota is available to process this command --> The cause described in this article is related when using Microsoft Sync Center for synchronizing files/folders on a network server/drive where the off-line cache is full, so the synchronization cannot be completed. Sync Center allows you to check the results of your recent sync activity. This allows you to access copies of your network files even when your computer is not connected to the network. Trados Studio is trying to access these copies but is failing due to the described above.
