How to check if this is a WMI issue:
- In the Windows Search bar insert the following: wmimgmt.msc and click on Enter
- Right click on the WMI Control (Local) and select Properties
- In General you should have the same "Invalid class" message
Solution: Repair Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)
NOTE: The WMI is not installed by RWS software, but is a necessary component of the operating system. If the WMI does not work properly, other applications or system components might be affected.
To resolve the issue, repair the Windows Management Instrumentation. This task required administrative rights and should be performed by an IT professional. Detailed instructions are available in
this Microsoft article.
On a Windows Desktop workstation, following simpler steps may resolve the issue:
- Open a Windows Command Prompt as Administrator
- Run the following command
winmgmt /salvagerepository
- Check whether the issue persists. If it persists, continue with the following steps:
- Run regedit.exe
- Verify that the registry value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WBEM\CIMOM\Autorecover MOFs is not empty
- Run the following command (in Administrator Command Prompt)
net stop winmgmt /y
- Run the following command (in Administrator Command Prompt)
winmgmt /resetrepository
8. After finishing the above steps, run a Restart
9. When Windows finishes the reboot, follow the steps described above on "
How to check if this is a WMI issue". If the message
Invalid class is no longer there then the issue is fixed and you can start Trados Studio. If you still have the message present then Windows Support needs to be contacted as we cannot do more on this issue.Note: For server operating systems, if the registry key checked in step 5 is empty or if above steps do not resolve the issue, refer to
the Microsoft article or contact support (see below).
