You receive an error message or experience unexpected behavior that seems to be specific to your MultiTerm desktop installation (for example because your colleagues do not experience the same problem).
Resolution

Workaround 1: Run a repair installation

  1. Close all RWS applications.
  2. Open the Control Panel:
    • Windows Vista/7Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
    • Windows 8: Right-click on the screen at bottom-left corner and choose Control Panel > Uninstall a Program.
    • Windows 10: Right-click on Start > Control Panel > Select View by: Small Icons > Programs and Features.
  3. Click/highlight the relevant SDL product from the list (e.g. MultiTerm Desktop 2017) and click Repair.
  4. Restart MultiTerm Desktop.

Workaround 2: Reset MultiTerm Desktop basic settings

If above approach does not solve the problem, you can reset non project-related settings:

  1. Close all RWS applications.
  2. Go to the following folder: NOTE: If you do not find this folder, make sure that these files are not hidden. See KB article Showing hidden files, folders and extensions on Windows operating systems

    • BaseSettings.xml
    • Plugincache.xml
    • UserSettings.xml
    • Settings.xml
  2. Restart MultiTerm Desktop. See video below:

Workaround 3: Trados Freshstart app

You can also use the Trados Freshstart app from the RWS AppStore. A direct link can be found here.

Please note that support for the Trados Freshstart app is available only on the RWS Community Developers forum.
