Error when starting Trados Studio: "Service 'Sdl.TranslationStudio.AlignmentEditor.IAlignmentEditorService' could not be started"

Symptoms/Context
When you are trying to start Trados Studio, you receive the following error:

Service 'Sdl.TranslationStudio.AlignmentEditor.IAlignmentEditorService' could not be started

Clicking on Show error details displays the additional errors

Cannot validate SDL plug-in: Sdl.FileTypeSupportFillters.MicrosoftOffice.DocxComponenBuilder [...]

Could not load file or assembly ' Sdl.FileTypeSupportFillters.MicrosoftOffice.Word_2 [...]
Resolution

Workaround: Reinstall Trados Studio with deleting installation folder

Go to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features, find Trados Studio in the list and uninstall it.
Depending on the version at fault delete folder:
  1. For Trados Studio 2022: C:\Program Files (x86)\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17.
  2. For Trados Studio 2021: C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16.
  3. For Trados Studio 2019: C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio15.
  4. For Trados Studio 2017: C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio5.
  5. For Trados Studio 2015: C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio4.
Install Trados Studio again.
 
NOTE: Windows 8 users can open the Run… dialog with the keyboard shortcut [Windows key + R] > type: Control Panel and press OK.
Locate and uninstall Trados Studio
