Solution:
A clean installation of Studio and MultiTerm.
- Download the current installers for SDL Trados Studio from your MySDL Account (https://oos.sdl.com/) from Products & Plans > Downloads
- Make certain that you have administrative rights and turn of the User Account Control

Online Activation and Deactivation of a Single User License for SDL Trados Studio 2011/2014
Offline Activation and Deactivation of a Single User License for SDL Trados Studio 2011 / 2014 - Uninstall Studio and MultiTerm via Control Panel > Programs and Features, by uninstalling:
- Afterwards, you can also uninstall all items starting with any of the following:
- Microsoft .NET Framework
- Microsoft Visual C++
- Open XML SDK
- Java
- Rename the following folders (these store all Studio and MultiTerm Settings, and may be restored afterwards)
- C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio or \SDL MultiTerm (choose version if more than one Studio or Multiterm version installed)
- C:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Roaming\SDL
- C:\Users\%Username%\Documents\Studio [VERSION]
- If still present, delete the following folders in either C:\Program Files(86) if you are running Windows x64, or C:\Program Files if Windows x86:
- SDL
- Anything starting with SDL
- Common Files\SDL
- Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel
- If still present, delete the following folders in C:\ProgramData (as this is usually a hidden folder you may need to display hidden folders)
- SDL
- SafeNet Sentinel
- SDL International
- Make sure Windows is fully updated, and install all pending updates
- Restart computer
- Turn off any antivirus/security software
- Run a proper installation by opening up the Studio or MultiTerm installer with a right-click and then selecting Run as Administrator
- Restart once more
- Turn back on the previously disabled antivirus/security software
- (Optional) If everything now works correctly, you can try to reapply the settings that were renamed in step 6.
