To keep your translation memories (TMs) healthy and assure optimal performance and robustness, it is best practice to upgrade these after switching from one version of Trados Studio to another (e.g. after upgrading from Trados Studio 2019 to Trados Studio 2021 and later). In addition you may periodically want to re-index or recompute the fuzzy index of a translation memory.

Open the TM:

1. In Studio, go to the Translation Memories view and click Open on the ribbon bar.
   
   
    
2. Browse to the location of the TM, select it, and click Open.
   
   
    
3. The TM will appear in the list of Translation Memories the left hand side of the screen. Right-click the TM you wish to work with and choose Settings.
   
   
    

To Re-index the TM:

1. Click the Re-index Translation Memory... button. This may take some time depending on the complexity of the TM.
   
   
    
2. When the process has completed, click OK twice.
   
   
    

To Recompute the Fuzzy Index Statistics of the TM:

1. Click the Recompute Fuzzy Index Statistics... button. This may take some time depending on the complexity of the TM.
   
   
    
2. When the process has completed, click OK twice.
