000002125 |3/2/2019 12:59 AM
Scope/Environment
Symptoms/Context

Symptom 1

Trying to open a project or document for translation in SDL Trados Studio is displaying the following message while loading the translation/project:

An error occurred while trying to determine the file version.

Symptom 2

Trying to open a project or project package by double-clicking it, SDL Trados Studio is displaying during the startup (or opening process) the following message:

Resolution

Workaround: Restart SDL Trados Studio

  1. Save you current progress of translation etc.
  2. Close SDL Trados Studio
  3. Start SDL Trados Studio

Afterwards the message is not appearing anymore because the closing process of Studio saved all settings and changes properly.

Workaround (for Symptom 2): Recreate the project

As the Project you try to open is corrupted/damaged in requires to be re-created. During the recreation you can run the Pre-Translate task using the Translation Memory that probably includes already the previously translated segments.
