Trying to open a project or document for translation in SDL Trados Studio is displaying the following message while loading the translation/project:
An error occurred while trying to determine the file version.
Trying to open a project or project package by double-clicking it, SDL Trados Studio is displaying during the startup (or opening process) the following message:
Error processing command line arguments: An error occurred whilst trying to determine the file version
Usually this message appears when settings/options (especially for File Types) are changed but for any reason not initialized properly by SDL Trados Studio. Other causes where this error appears while opening a project (-package): - Project (-packge) got corrupted during transfer from one to another PC - Project (-packge) got corrupted due to a restrivctive Anti-Virus/Protection software that considered it a thread and tried to delete "affected" parts
Workaround: Restart SDL Trados Studio
Save you current progress of translation etc.
Close SDL Trados Studio
Start SDL Trados Studio
Afterwards the message is not appearing anymore because the closing process of Studio saved all settings and changes properly.
Workaround (for Symptom 2): Recreate the project

You can add file extension exceptions to your AntiVirus/Firewall list. The extensions that need to be added are
