Trados Studio - Error during TMX import: "Import failed. The file could not be processed."

You are trying to import a TMX into a file- or server-based Translation Memory in Trados Studio but the following error message is displaying:

Import failed. The file could not be processed.



Clicking on Show Error Details showing further message details:

Import failed. The file could not be processed.
got seg. expected segment data (System.XML.XmlTextReaderImpl)

 

Workaround: Alter the TMX file

1. Open the *.tmx file in an XML/Text editor
2. Run a search & replace action:
   • Search for: <br />
   • Replace with:
     • NOTE: In this case leave the Replace with field empty.
3. Save the changes and run the import again.

The TMX file contains invalid content. In this specific case the invalid content is: <br />
The validation of the TMX file therefore fails during the import process and does not import any content.
