Question
What to do if all the disk space on a publishing server is consumed.
Answer
  1. Log into the publish server
  2. Clean up the disk where the publish scripts run.
  3. Open windows explorer and open the directory \InfoShare\Data\Publish\Data
  4. Remove all the sub directories under \InfoShare\Data\Publish\Data that are older then 24 hours.
  5. Also remove log files older then 24 hours in the directory \InfoShare\Data\Logs
Remark: Cleaning up the log files and temporary transform folders from failed publish requests can be cleaned up by a scheduled PowerShell script for example.

Make sure that the clean up flag of the output format settings is turned on.
  1. Login as administrator into the TridionĀ  Docs Web UI and open Settings - Output formats.
  2. Open the properties of each Output Format and on the bottom there is a clean up check box. Make sure it is selected.
  3. If the clean up flag is selected, the publishing script removes the files that were used to render the output.
  4. If it is not selected, the files stay on the file system until someone manually removes them or a clean up script removes them.
Remark: Publications that have failed during publishing keep temporary transform folders on the file system of the publishing server even if "Clean up" flag is enabled in the output format properties. This can also lead to out of disk space situations if there are lots of publish requests that fail.
