Which restrictions or conditions apply to Real Time TM Update from Trados Studio to WorldServer Server Translation Memories?
Answer

Once connected to the WorldServer (server) Translation Memory, the translation memory attached to a WorldServer package is centrally shared between WorldServer and Trados Studio. When opening a WorldServer package, Studio users with write-access to the WorldServer system also have real-time access to the server-based TM attached to the package. Each update to a segment or translation memory will be immediately reflected on the WorldServer side.

The following restrictions apply to the real-time updates:
  1. The Studio project MUST be a project created from a WSXZ package exported from the WorldServer environment where the Worldserver (server) Translation Memory is stored. You cannot update a Worldserver (server) Translation Memory from a local Studio project, although you can connect to it (if you have permission) and look it up.
  2. WorldServer must be in Live TM mode.
  3. The WorldServer update TM associated with the project is NOT restricted or - if it is restricted - the user has Read and Write Permissions to the TM.
  4. The user has the permission to modify a TM in her/his User Type.
  5. In Trados Studio, in the Project settings, the Update checkbox must be selected in the Options dialogue box under Translation Memory and Automated Translation for the WorldServer (server) TM associated with the WorldServer Studio project.
  6. The WorldServer project from which the WSXZ package has been exported from must be active and the project tasks must be assigned to and claimed by the user who is working on the project connected to the project TM in Trados Studio.
  7. Changes to source segments are not supported.
  8. Split and merged segments will not be updated.
  9. Any changes to tags will not be updated.
  10. Offline mode is not supported.
  11. Segments that were originally locked will not be updated
