Multiple users of XMetaL and the Tridion Docs Authoring bridge have reported issues when running on Windows 11 24H2. Some users have it after an upgrade to this Windows 11 24H2 Update. Other users have it when using new hardware where Windows 11 24H2 is installed on. The most common symptoms are broken functionality and Run-Time Error messages that are shown.
Resolution
RWS Engineering had summitted an issue to XMetaL for the problem with XMetaL running on Windows 11 24H2. The issue is related to the recent changes in Windows 11 24H2 regarding how JScript (legacy JavaScript) is managed. This change has affected some products that have been using or providing access to Windows legacy JavaScript as part of the implementation, unfortunately XMetaL is in this list.
At this time there is not a resolution, and we would recommend waiting to apply 24H2 update, and for users running Windows 11 24H2 to roll back to 23H2. To check your windows version, you can do the following:
Hit the Windows key and “R” to open a run window
Type winver and then hit enter
