When doing translation update projects for a customer, where only a portion of an entire published PDF is sent to translation, and the customer sends the PDF for in-context review by linguists (LSO), linguists are constantly marking up content that was out of scope of the translation work because there is no visual indicator in the PDF of which parts/sections were actually part of the change in the project.

This means that linguists try and request changes to the customer that are not possible. 

Is there some way for customers to produce a PDF for LSO in Tridion Docs where there are visual indicators in the PDF of the sections that were in scope or were recently modified? For example, the updated section could have a highlighted background. A visual indicator would help focus and scope the in-context review for the linguists and result in fewer out-of-scope comments/change requests to the customer. 
 

There is not an existing setting for this capability. However, tags could be added to the DTDs so that the content is not translated, like <PreTranslation> tags.

Or, it is possible to develop a Tridion Docs output that applies certain formatting based on a topic’s status. So, a certain background color could be applied, or some other highlighting mechanism applied to the topics that are In Translation in Tridion Docs. The topic GUID would need to be displayed so that linguists can map what they are reviewing back to the topic files they received for translation. And the topic status needs to match what the customer is using.

Either of these options would require a paid PS engagement.
