"Xliff Version 2.0 is not supported" error occurs when trying to align XLIFF 2.0 files in Trados Studio 2022

Symptoms/Context

When trying to align XLIFF 2.0 files using the Alignment function in Trados Studio you get the error:

Xliff Version 2.0 is not supported

Resolution

Go to File >Options >File Types and from the right side disable the XLIFF filter and make sure XLIFF 2.0 is enabled.

Root Cause

Trados Studio processes files in the order of the filters.
