Symptoms/Context

When opening Trados Studio you receive the following error message:

Index was out of range. Must be non-negative and less than the size of the collection. Parameter name: index

Resolution

Reset Trados Studio basic settings

If the above approach does not solve the problem, you can reset non project-related settings:

Close all RWS applications.
Go to the following folder:
- Trados Studio 2022:
  - Windows 7/8/10: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\ rename the Studio17 folder into Studio17old for example
- Trados Studio 2021:
  - Windows 7/8/10: C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\ rename the Studio16 folder into Studio17old for example
Restart Trados Studio.

Many different causes can lead to Trados Studio having to be repaired or reset, including corrupt settings or issues with the Windows operating system installed on your PC.
