Symptoms/Context

When trying to open a project created with a template based on an offline Cloud package, the error below occurs and the project cannot be opened:

This project cannot be opened in the Studio Edition you are using. Only project packages or single documents can be opened.

Resolution

1. Make sure the project is closed in Trados Studio
2. Open the .sdlproj file in Notepad++ (or another text editor program) - NOTE! the .sdlproj file can be found in the local project folder
3. Find the section marked in the screenshot below and delete it
4. Save the modified file

It should be possible to open the project without any issues afterward.

Root Cause

Creating a project template or a project from an offline Cloud package adds the following information to the template or to the .sdlproj file:

<Setting Id="ProjectOrigin">Offline cloud package</Setting>

Such templates cause issues if they are used in Trados GroupShare. Packages created from projects using this template cannot be opened in Trados Studio.
