GroupShare Online Editor changes the target encoding to UTF-8
4/20/2021 10:45 PM
Online Editor - GroupShare or Language Cloud
When saving the target file for some XML files, the target encoding is set to UTF-8 even if the encoding of the source is different. This does not happen if the sdlxliff is only manipulated in Studio.
Source file could be:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?>
With a target encoding automatically set to:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>
If one monitors the changes in the sdlxliff file by opening it in a text editor before and after, this line will appear once it is opened in Online Editor:
If you can save the target file in Studio, there is an option to adjust the target encoding so you can choose the correct one, regardless of that line being present in the sdlxliff.
If generating the target is done only from GroupShare / Online Editor, this is not possible.
This is a defect that we are aware of and will be addressed in a future version.
