Scope/Environment
Language Cloud
Trados Live
Multiterm
Symptoms/Context
When trying to create a file-based termbase from a termbase definition file .xdt exported from Language Cloud / Trados Live, the following error comes up in the Termbase Wizard screen:
The language locale is invalid.
Resolution
If the cloud termbase definition file .xdt contains the languages Serbian (Latin), Croatian (Croatia), Norwegian, Bokmål (Norway), Tagalog, then this is an issue caused by a defect. (Other languages could be affected too.)
The situation is reported to Development and a fix will be implemented in a future release for these products.
The .xdt can be opened in a text editor (e.g. Notepad++) and the language code can be changed with the accepted Multiterm code - see below:
For Serbian (Latin): - Language Cloud code is sr-Latn-RS - Multiterm code is sh-SR
For Croatian (Croatia): - Language Cloud code is Hr-HR - Multiterm code is sh-HR
For Norwegian, Bokmål (Norway): - Language Cloud code is nb-NO - Multiterm code is no-NO
For Tagalog there is no Multiterm equivalent as this language does not appear in the list of available languages in the Termbase Wizard.
If you also want to import the Cloud termbase content - you can export it as .xml from the Cloud, and edit the language codes as necessary in the text editor, then perform the import in the file-based termbase.
Root Cause
Language codes not synchronized between Cloud and Multiterm.
