Output of a document to PDF using "Direct to PDF" option, the PDF has the expected image. When the same document is output with psfmtdrv the image is not coming through properly. In the xyview the image shows up as a solid color. When viewing the image outside of XPP using Adobe Reader the image shows as a pattern as it should.
This problem is due to the soft masking and blending found in the source PDF image which is not supported with conversion to EPS. This conversion is required for viewing in xyview and printing with psfmtdrv for postscript to PDF output.
The workaround is to save the source image in another format such as PNG or JPG. This is not a problem when using divpdf for output because the PDF image is passed through rather than converted.
The PDF image has soft masks and blending which our PDF to EPS conversion tool does not support.
The vendor has not made any commitment to supporting this type of PDF image at this time.
