Symptoms/Context

When trying to open a termbase in Trados Studio or MultiTerm, you encounter the error messages:

Trados Studio

General error occurred.
MultiTerm is unable to retrieve the multimedia object.

This termbase cannot be opened because it has been created with an unsupported version of MultiTerm.

Resolution

Remove the Asian (or Polish/Hungarian) characters from the termbase name or/and from the file path and then try to open it again.

Root Cause

The termbase name or/and the path where the termbase is saved contains Asian/Polish/Hungarian characters.
