Trados GroupShare is installed in a split scenario with the Trados GroupShare Web Server role on one machine and the Trados GroupShare Application Server role on another machine. The Trados GroupShare Console is accessed on the Application Server. When trying to make some changes in the Trados GroupShare Console and clicking on Apply Changes there is an error. An unknown error occurred. Please restart the application. Details: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Server\Web\resources\config.js'

The RWS Development team is aware of this problem (reference CRQ-9871) and is working on a solution. Until a permanent solution is in place, you can apply the workaround available.

Workaround: Create a “fake” configs.js file to avoid an error message in the Trados GroupShare Console on the application server

1. Create the following folder structure: C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Server\Web\resources
2. Create a file and name it configs.js
3. Edit the configs.js and add the following information and save the changes:

   var GS = {

           protocol: 'https://',
           host: '[EXTERNAL SERVER ADDRESS]',
           esRouterUrl: '[EXTERNAL SERVER ADDRESS]',
           esDocumentsUrl: '[EXTERNAL SERVER ADDRESS]',
           esUrl: 'https://[EXTERNAL SERVER ADDRESS]/signalr',
       }
   };

   
   NOTE: Ensure the protocol and the external server address is reflecting the correct values.
    
4. Restart the Trados GroupShare Services and the error does not appear again.

 

Solution/Consideration: Adjust configs.js on the web server (if needed)

NOTE: The configs.js will need to be manually edited on the Web Server to reflect the new protocol if it was changed from HTTP to HTTPS or vice versa and the new External Server Address.
 

1. Login to the web server where the Trados GroupShare Web Server roles are installed
2. Browse to the js located by default in C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL\SDL Server\Web\resources
3. Open the js in a text/xml editor.
4. Adjusted the values. Example of the content of the configs.js:

       UE: {
           protocol: 'https://',
           host: 'support.sdlproducts.com',
           esRouterUrl: 'support.sdlproducts.com',
           esDocumentsUrl: 'support.sdlproducts.com',
           esUrl: 'https://support.sdlproducts.com/signalr',

5. After the changes are saved, restart the Trados GroupShare Services and the IIS.

The Trados GroupShare Console is trying to access a file that is not there, because it is on the Web Server. Defect CRQ-9871 has been logged with development.
 

The Trados GroupShare Console includes the Project Server Settings – External Server Address field, which adds the configured external server address, supposedly stored/written into the configs.js, and is used then by the Web Server.

However, that information cannot be updated from the Trados GroupShare Console (hosted on the application server) because the configs.js is hosted/installed on the web server.
