All
File Types configurations for Office and Adobe File Types (for instance, DOCX, DOC, XLS, XLSX, PPT, PPTX, IDML, MIF, INX) - contain a
Font Mapping section that allows to add custom fonts to the default fonts for APAC languages and for Arabic. The default font for each of these languages is set per default, for instance
SimSun for Chinese (Simplified).
A new language can be added as well.
You should add the custom fonts that you want to use in your translations to the Font Mapping. Here are the steps in a
Microsoft Word 2007-2016 File Type configuration. Font mapping applies by font and not by character. If you want a font to be different from the font mapping settings in the target, then the font needs to be unique in the source.
The same steps apply to other File Types:
1- Select
Font mapping on the left hand side of the File Type configuration
2- Check the box for
Use font mapping for the following target languages (if it is not already checked)
3- Select the arrow on the left of the language needed (if language isn’t there, select
Add new language(s)).
4- Select
5- Add new target font…6- Select
Add Custom Font…7- Type in the font exactly as it is used (or copy and paste it from Word)
8- Select the box in the
Source Fonts the font in the source document that you want to be replaced by the custom target language font, for instance Arial.
9- Click Ok
- To add additional custom fonts, highlight the language, then select
Add new target font(s) - Select again Add new target font…
- Either select the font from the Source fonts list, or to add another custom font, select Add Custom font…
- Repeat steps above
