After enabling SSL/HTTPS for SDL Trados GroupShare the Online Editor is not opening documents for translation.

Scope/Environment

SDL Trados GroupShare Online Editor

Symptoms/Context

After setting up SSL/HTTPS for the SDL Trados GroupShare website and connections to SDL Trados GroupShare via the client applications, however, no document for translation/review is opening and the following error is displaying in the Online Editor:

502 (Bad Gateway)
or
502 (error)

Resolution

Apply changes via the IIS Manager:

Open the IIS Manager
Click on the server connection and open the URL Rewrite
In the list of URL rules locate and select the EditorServiceWS and click Edit…
In the Edit Inbound Rule dialog scroll down to Action
Ensure/Select the Action type: Rewrite
Add the following in the Rewrite URL field: http://EditorServiceFarm/{R:0}

Applying changes manually:

Go to: C:\Windows\System32\inetsrv\config\
Open the applicationHost.config in a text editor
Locate the following:

<rule name="EditorServiceWS" stopProcessing="true">
  <match url="(.*\/)?(signalr((\/.+)+|\/?))$" />
  <conditions>
    <add input="{CACHE_URL}" pattern="^(.+)://" />
  </conditions>
  <action type="Rewrite" url="{C:0}EditorServiceFarm/{R:0}" />
</rule>

Replace <action type="Rewrite" url="{C:0}EditorServiceFarm/{R:0}" /> with <action type="Rewrite" url="http://EditorServiceFarm/{R:0}" />

Root Cause

This is a known issue with the default configuration applied by the currently available SDL Trados GroupShare 2017 SR1 and SR1 CU06 installers. It is planned to address this in the upcoming, new installer for the Cumulative Update 8 for SDL Trados GroupShare 2017 Service Release 1.
For a complete solution now, please apply the workaround described in the section Resolution to correct the inaccurate default configuration.
