Troubleshooting slow performance with Trados GroupShare 2017/202 SR1 and newer by adding exceptions to security software (firewall and/or antivirus)

Scope/Environment

Trados GroupShare 2020 SR1
Trados GroupShare 2017 SR1

Question

We encounter slow performance when working on:
- Server-based projects
- Server-based translation memories
- Server-based termbases
- ...any related tasks with resources that are hosted on the Trados GroupShare instance
I am seeing slow performance with Trados GroupShare 2017/2020 SR1 and newer resources.

Answer

Add an exception for the products' relevant folders

Note:

All sub-folders of the listed folders need to be included in the exception/exclusion list for your antiVirus.
Any folder you created for e.g. saving projects or termbases that is not listed here, also needs to be included in the exception list for your antiVirus.

Add the following locations to the exception list:

C:\Program Files\Common Files\SDL
C:\Program Files\SDL\SDL Server
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SDL
C:\Program Files (x86)\SDL
C:\ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL
C:\ProgramData\SDL
C:\Users\[GroupShare Service User Account]\AppData

Note:
If using paths other than the default for the File Storage, Project Detaching Settings and Email Templates Location (see Trados GroupShare Console > Settings), ensure these paths are also added to the exception in your security suite.
