Following symptoms are encountered:
 

• Performing a fuzzy search with 3 or more characters in SDL MultiTerm Desktop, SDL Trados Studio, SDL MultiTerm Online or SDL MultiTerm Workflow (aka QuickTerm) is not returning any results in the Hitlist dialog.
• The Term Recognition in SDL Trados Studio is not returning results for terms which have three or more characters.

However, running a fuzzy search with a maximum of two characters or a normal/full-text search is returning results.


 

Solution 1: Update GroupShare to the latest Cumulative Update

This issue is fixed in GroupShare 2017 SR1 CU6 and above. Install the latest GroupShare 2017 cumulative update.
 

Solution 2: (GroupShare 2017 SR1 CU5 and below)
Apply when no updates have been installed in January: Install Microsoft Updates from 13th February 2018

NOTE: Microsoft released a new security update/patch which fixes issues that where delivered with the security update from beginning of January 2018.

• For Windows Server 2012 R2: 2018-02 Security Monthly Quality Rollup for Windows Server 2012 R2 for x64-based Systems (KB4074594)
• For Windows Server 2016: 2018-02 Cumulative Update for Windows Server 2016 for x64-based Systems (KB4074590)

Solution 3: (GroupShare 2017 SR1 CU5 and below)
Might no longer be necessary (superseeded updates) if Solution 1 has been applied: Install Microsoft Updates from 17th January 2018

NOTE: Microsoft released a new security update/patch which fixes issues that where delivered with the security update from beginning of January 2018.
Install below Windows update on the GroupShare application server:

• For Windows Server 2012 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4057401/windows-81-update-kb4057401 (Preview of Monthly Rollup)
• For Windows Server 2016: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4057142/windows-10-update-kb4057142

Note: In some situations it may be necessary to reorganize your termbase after installing the Windows update.

 

Workaround: Replace 'Sdl.MultiTerm.Server.dll' on SDL Trados GroupShare server (GroupShare 2017 SR1 CU5 and below)

NOTE:

• Use the workaround only if you are unable to install the latest Microsoft Updates on the Windows Server
• The DLL is tested for SDL GroupShare 2015 and 2017

1. Download attached Sdl.MultiTerm.Server.dll.zip file (it contains the file Sdl.MultiTerm.Server.dll) from the Attachments section below.
2. Extract the zip file on the local drive. Do NOT unzip the files onto an external hard disk or another partition.
3. Replace the *.dll file within the MultiTerm folder on the Microsoft Windows 2012/2016 OS:
   • GroupShare 2017 (SR1): C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SDL\MultiTerm14
   • GroupShare 2015: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SDL\MultiTerm12
4. Restart services from the SDL Trados GroupShare Console. More information can be found here:

Note: In some situations it may be necessary to reorganize your termbase after applying the hotfix.

Installing Microsoft Security Updates KB4056898, KB4054522, KB4054519, KB4056895 or KB4056890 from January 2018 on a Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016 operating system where SDL Trados GroupShare is installed is causing the behavior described in the Symptoms section.
