- Administrator is doing an SDL Web 8.5 installation, and has requirement to install the Translation Management (TM) module.
- At the time of installation, adminstrator does not have access to a Translation Manager system.
- Although it is possible to complete the Web 8.5 installation without the TM module, and then modify the installation to add the TM module later, doing installation in two stages is not the preferred scenario.
- When running the Web 8.5 installer, putting in invalid Translation Manager server details fails with error "Unable to connect to the remote server" as in below screenshot.  Doing a scripted installation also fails.

 

As a workaround, do the following steps:
- On Web 8.5 server, create a dummy site in IIS (or other application server)
* Create subfolder "transfer" with a text file renamed to ctaisapi.dll
* Create binding on port 3089.

- When inputting values for either a scripted install or the GUI installer, use server address "http://localhost" and server port number "3089".


The Administrator can then proceed with the Web 8.5 installation.  It will still be necessary to modify the TranslationManager.xml at %TRIDION_HOME%/config folder when a Translation Management system is available.
