Error when opening SDL Trados Studio : file is encrypted or is not a database

Studio 2017 SR1

Symptoms/Context
Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Studio (as user or administrator)
2. Receive error message :
The translation memory data file engine returned error : file is encrypted or is not a database
Resolution
Rename or delete the
TranslationMemoryRepository.xml
Close Studio
Navigate to the following location on your computer :
For Studio 2019 :
C:\Users\[%Username%]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15.0.0.0
For Studio 2017 :
C:\Users\[%Username%]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\14.0.0.0
For Studio 2015 :
C:\Users\[%Username%]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\12.0.0.0
3. Rename or delete the file
TranslationMemoryRepository.xml
.
4. Restart Studio
NOTE:

Root Cause
If the error occurs only when trying to open a specific translation memory, it is most likely corrupted. You can try using the
SDLTM Repair
tool to fix it:

If the error occurs when trying to open any translation memory, most likely the Translation Memory Repository (a system file storing information about the TMs) is corrupted. In this case please use the solution below:
