Terminology Verifier: Incorrect or missing warnings/errors if termbase contains sub-languages
000004879|9/29/2021 9:22 AM
Scope/Environment
Trados Studio 2021
Trados Studio 2019
Trados Studio 2017
Symptoms/Context
You run a quality check in Trados Studio, either by using the Verify Files batch task, or the F8 shortcut key. You receive the following warning:
The target segment does not contain the translated term for "[source term]" - "[target term]" expected.
However, the target segment does in fact contain the target term referenced in the warning. Or another translation was indeed used, but the source term mentioned in the error had not been added for the sub-language used in your project (e.g. the term has been added for English UK, but your source language is English US).
Similarly, you may notice that errors regarding terms set as forbidden are missing, or that you receive the error below, although the term mentioned has not been set as forbidden in the target language.
Wrong usage of the term "[target term]" - this term is defined as forbidden
If the termbase contains sub-languages, Trados Studio uses the incorrect language for term verification in some situations. The sub-language that appears first alphabetically is used.
The issue has already been logged for our Development, in order for them to implement a fix in a future version of Trados Studio.
