Scope/Environment
Trados Studio
Symptoms/Context
I would like to add translations from existing SDLXLIFF file(s) to an existing Translation Memory. How do I do this?
Resolution
Go to the Translation Memories view in Studio:
Opening the TM
This only needs to be done once. Once opened, the TM will stay in the list unless you remove it or reset your Studio settings.
Click the Open button in the Tasks section of the Home ribbon bar.
Locate the TM you wish to update, select it, and click the Open button.
Your TM will appear in the list of Translation Memories.
Importing Translations from the SDLXLIFF(s)
Click the Import button in the Tasks section of the Home ribbon.
Click the Add Files... button to add individual SDLXLIFF files, or use the Add Folder... to add all of the SDLXLIFF files in a folder. You can do this as many times as you like to add multiple files and folders.
Your selected files will appear in the list. When you have finished, click Next.
Select the types of segments you wish to import, based on their confirmation status, and then click Next.
Choose the way you want Studio to handle any differing segments during the import, and click Finish.
Wait for the import process to complete and then click Close. Note that this may take some time depending on the quantity and size of the bilingual files whose segments you are importing.
