Trying to upgrade a TXT export (usually generated from WinAlign or Translations Workbench) in the SDL Trados Studio is displaying the following warning message: The translation memory '[PATH]\[FILENAME].txt' is not supported: 'WinAlign export files cannot be migrated because SDL Trados 2007 components cannot be found. Consider re-running the SDL Trados Studio 2017 installer, or reinstall/repair SDL Trados 2007 and try again. For more information, see the knowledge base at http://kb.sdl.com.' Clicking on OK is closing the dialog an the upgrade cannot be processed. In some cases you receive the error message: The translation memory '[filename].txt' could not be loaded: 'Method not found: 'Void Sdl.LanguagePlatform.Core.Wordlist.Load(System.String)'.' |
Solution: Install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 components
After the installation of Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package, start the installation of SDL Trados Studio again.
Alternative: Download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 components from Microsoft directly

This messages appear due to the missing 3rd party component Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 that is required to process the SDL Trados 2007 files/features/components that are installed/shipped with SDL Trados Studio 2011 (and later) and provide a certain backwards compatibility. E.g. processing bilingual *.ttx (TagEditor) documents in SDL Trados Studio or as described in this article, the upgrade process for legacy Translation Memories. |
