To check the progress on a Tridion Docs "Search" full text index rebuild, a SQL query can be run on the database.
- Start SDL Server Management Studio application from the Start menu of a remote computer or on the database server itself.
- Logon to the database server
- Select the Tridion Docs database
- Execute the following query:
use <database_name>
Select COUNT(*) from index_message
Select COUNT(*) from ISH_TOINDEX_1As the index rebuild is progressing the index_message will initially increase as index terms are discovered. They will be passed over to be added to the index and so the count will also also begin to decrease, meanwhile the ISH_TOINDEX_1 will likewise, initially increase as terms are being passed, but will also begin to decrease once the index is being written to.
In time both counts will start decreasing towards zero, where the index rebuild will have completed. As mentioned, this can take several hours, depending on the size of the database.
If you have a full text index running on multiple servers there are more ISH_TOINDEX_xxx tables.
execute the following the following query to see all the registered crawlers and the server where they run on.
SELECT * FROM ISH_CRAWLER
The value in the index_table column tells which ISH_TOINDEX_xxx table it is.
If the INDEX_TABLE column has the value 3 it is the ISH_TOINDEX_3 table
