Error when running Pre-translate and Analyze task in Trados Studio: 'Cannot create a file when that file already exists'

Symptoms/Context

An error is displayed when running the Pre-translate and Analyze batch task:

Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

NOTE: This behavior can be experienced also when running other batch tasks (for example Update Main Translation Memories).

Resolution

Resolution: Delete old temporary files

Open the C:\Users\<UserID>\AppData\Local\Temp folder in Windows Explorer.
Remove old temporary files so that there are fewer than 60.000 .tmp files.

Root Cause

During the batch task, Studio attempts to create files in the temp folder at C:\Users\<UserID>\AppData\Local\Temp.
If your temp folder contains more than approximately 60.000 files with the .tmp extension, the creation of further files may fail and you experience the above error.
