When opening a document for translation that contains an improperly designed custom font, source segments are not displayed properly in SDL Trados Studio:

You may also see the following error message:

Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt




 

If you try still to place the cursor in segments after the error messages Studio crashes. In certain scenarios if you type any letter in the target it adds symbols/text in addition and randomly.

1. Click File > Options > Editor.
2. Choose for the Formatting display style > Show all tags but do not show formatting:
   
   
3. Press OK.

The change will have no effect on the target document: the font formatting will be the same as in the source document. It is only a display feature that is preventing the text from being displayed in the custom font.
