RWS OpenExchange Developer Program

RWS is the world's largest supplier of language technology solutions. RWS AppStore (https://appstore.rws.com) is the vehicle for developers who want to showcase their talent and generate revenue, or create applications and integrations for themselves.

Join the Developer Program and benefit from:

• Free access to the Trados Studio and MultiTerm APIs and associated SDKs
• Free basic support and access to the RWS AppStore developer community
• Free security check and listing of your application on the RWS AppStore

Apply to join the SDL OpenExchange developer program

You only need to do this if you are intending to submit your applications onto the SDL OpenExchange. If you are developing for yourself, or for your company then this step is not required. To submit an application, you need an active SDL Trados Studio 2014-2015 license. Trial versions are available on request.

1. Log in to your SDL Account and go to Apps > Developers via the menu at the top.
2. Click Apply in the Sign up to become an SDL Developer box.

Developer Community

The RWS Developer Community is where you can interact with fellow developers: https://community.rws.com/developers-more/developers/language-developers.

• Keep up-to-date with new additions to the API
• Discuss app ideas
• Ask questions about the API and how to use it
• Add your app for beta testing

The RWS Developer Community is part of the wider RWS Community and access is free. You can read posts without having to sign up at all, but if you want to be able to post into the community you need to join. This is simple too, when you first visit the community you'll see a banner at the top of other page that say This group requires membership for participation - click to join. Just click it!

Accessing the SDK and other Resources

Access to the SDK is free and you can find them all here: Access the Studio APIs. You can also find many great examples of how to write applications in the RWS Github Community

Submitting an application to the store

You can add your application to the RWS AppStore so that it can be downloaded by RWS language technology users. To do this you:

1. Contact us via app-signing@rws.com if you have created an sdlplugin and we will sign this for you to remove the Studio warning message.
2. Go to your RWS Account and click My Apps.
3. Under Your Developer Status on the right click on Submit New App and complete the form as guided.

Publishing and updating apps

Once you submit it, your app is subject to our security and functional review process. When we approve the app, we will contact you to inform you that we will publish it the store.

To update your app with a new version:

1. Go to your RWS Account and click My Apps.
2. At the bottom of the My Apps page, click Submit new version under My Submitted Apps.

To update your app with a minor correction or update:

1. Contact us via app-signing@rws.com and we will roll back the status.
2. Go to your RWS Account and click My Apps.
3. Locate your app and edit it. Do not submit a new version.
4. Contact us via app-signing@rws.com when complete and will will republish the app.

Support for RWS AppStore Applications

The RWS AppStore provides a platform for third party developers to create standalone applications or Studio plugins that take advantage of the Studio Technology Platform.  The RWS Technical Support teams and staff, whilst very willing to help in this forum, are not always going to know how to help.  So please remember that every application has an appropriate route for support via the developer and the contact details for each application are on the RWS AppStore website.

So go to the application in question and look for the details on how to get support, or browse directly to the RWS AppStore Community to find assistance. The developers are always willing to help and if you are unable to find the answer to your question in this forum then the developer is probably your best bet!

Similarly, please don't send long questions about how to use Studio to the developers of third party applications... these guys are very helpful but if you have questions on Studio then this forum is the best place to ask.
