Your bilingual SDLXLIFF file is unable to be uploaded to SDL TMS. When attempting to upload the file, an error message displays: Dependency file not found. This error can also be found when opening the SDLXLIFF file in Studio. NOTE: TMS 11.2 and above now accepts SDLXLIFFs where the dependency file is missing. However, if another user downloads SDLXLIFF from TMS later during a review step, they will not be able to rebuild the file offline since the dependency link will be still pointing to the previous user's location. |
To fix this issue:
Once this is done, save the file and note that the overall file size is now bigger. You will now be able to upload this file back into SDL TMS. To change all embedded dependencies for SDLXLIFF files To ensure that file dependencies are kept with SDLXLIFF documents, change the following setting:
|
The dependency file is the original source file that was embedded within the bilingual document. This is used to create the target document. Without this file, the translated document cannot be created. Attempts to create the target file locally also fail. This may happen when the original source file is too large to be embedded in the SDLXLIFF file. Instead, it is linked as a separate dependency file. When creating packages, these files are not automatically added to the package. When an SDLXLIFF file is opened in Trados Studio, embedded content is stored in the user's TEMP location (e.g C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp). Some software (like Norton Antivirus) will periodically clean the TEMP location and may remove the dependency file. This will prevent the dependency file from being embedded back into the SDLXLIFF file when Trados Studio is closed. |
