Known Issue

SDL Trados Studio 2011
Symptoms/Context
You are running a Linux-based NAS file system with the journaling file system feature enabled. When you are working in SDL Trados Studio 2011 it is very slow, especially when opening translation memories, or dialogues within SDL Trados Studio 2011 in which translation memories are listed. Also, opening documents for translation where translation memories were added or chosen through the opening process or project creation results in slow response times from SDL Trados Studio 2011.
Resolution
The workaround to enhance the performance is to disable the full journalingfeature of your file system.
Root Cause
A possible cause for this behaviour is that the journaling file system of the NAS system slows down the processes of SDL Trados Studio. The significant changes in handling translation memory data in SDL Trados Studio 2011 seem to collide with the journaling file system feature.

A description of the journaling file system can be found here on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journaling_file_system and http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journaling-Dateisystem. The latter is in German, but includes more information and can be simply translated with SDL Freetranslation.
