WorldServer: As a Transport User, I cannot add reference files to an existing project because I am asked to change the project due date

Scope/EnvironmentWorldServer prior to 11.3 (Transport interface)
Symptoms/Context
As a Transport user, I want to add a reference file to an existing project. When I click Save after having added the reference file, I am prompted with an alert and my change cannot be saved. The reference file is not added to the project. The alert asks me to Add a due date to the project. However, the project has already a Due Date. Moreover: I have no option to edit the Project Due Date because I do not have that permission in my User Type.
Resolution
This has been fixed starting WorldServer 11.3.
The workaround for this issue is to make sure that the Transport User has the option Can update project due dates enabled in her/his Transport User Type. With that option enabled, she will be able to edit the Due Date (or confirm it) and the reference file will be added to the project after clicking on Save.
Root Cause
This behavior is due to a defect filed as CRQ-8018. When adding reference files to a project, WorldServer wrongly expects that the Due Date changes, so it asks the User to make that change. If the User has no permission to do so, she will not be able to add Reference files.
Reference
Refer to this article describing a similar problem with a slightly different scenario:
