Error when opening termbase in SDL MultiTerm: This termbase cannot be opened because it was created with an unsupported version of MultiTerm

Scope/Environment
Symptoms/Context

You open any file-based MultiTerm Termbase in SDL MultiTerm 2015 or 2017 installed on Windows 7 and the following error message is displayed:

This termbase cannot be opened because it was created with an unsupported version of MultiTerm.

Additionally, you are unable to create or open any termbase in SDL MultiTerm 2015, 2017 or SDL Trados Studio 2015, 2017 as described in the following KB articles:
Resolution

Install Service Pack 1 for Windows 7

To resolve the problem, install Service Pack 1 for Windows 7.
Root Cause
The errors described in this article appear if the following points are applying:

- Operating System is Windows 7
- Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 is not installed.

NOTE:
SDL MultiTerm 2015, 2017 and SDL Trados Studio 2015, 2017 require the latest Service Packs for your operating system (see System Requirements in the Installation Guide).
If the points do not apply and the Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 is installed, please refer to the Note section.
