You are asked what version of Oracle/Java Runtime Environment (JRE) you have installed on your machine but you are not sure where or how to check that.
To exclude/include possible causes for some problems it is good to know what JRE version(s) you have installed.
How to check if the recommended/latest Java version on your machine is installed
- Browse to the following site: http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
- Click Verify Java version.
- If the recommended/latest version IS installed, then the latest version number and update is shown.
- If the recommended/latest version IS NOT installed, then you are forwarded to the Java download page where you can install the latest available Java (JRE) version.
How to check what Java version(s) is installed on your machine in the Java Control Panel
- Open the Control Panel
- Select Java. The Java Control Panel dialog box is displayed .
NOTE: if the Control Panel is in Category mode and you cannot see the Java option, switch the Control Panel to Classic View. - Click the Java tab.
- In the Java Application Runtime Setting box, click View. The JNLP Runtime Settings dialog box is displayed.
- Make a screenshot of the listed Java versions or write them down.
How to check what Java version(s) is installed on your machine in the Microsoft Windows > Control Panel
NOTE: sometimes in the
Control Panel you have a better overview of what versions are installed as you also can see if 64bit versions are installed next to 32bit versions and so on.

- Windows Vista/7/8/10: Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features
