Symptoms/Context

When trying to use SDL Language Cloud for NMT in Trados Studio 2021 and 2019 you get an error:
There was a problem while translating. See the Messages WIndow for more information.
And in the Messages Window
An error has occurred while using the translation provider SDL Machine Translation: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Resolution

There are two temporary workarounds:
1. Pre-Translate the whole file using SDL Language Cloud see this article: How to pre-translate in SDL Trados Studio using Language Cloud / Pre-translate Batch task with Language Cloud doesn't work
2. Use MT Cloud plug-in if you want to translate segment by segment
