For Web 8.5, new fields added to metadata schema do not appear in component with metadata schema embedded

000010793 |9/10/2019 10:16 PM
Scope/Environment
Web 8.5
Symptoms/Context
- Administrator has added several new fields to a metadata schema, and saved and closed the schema.
- A multimedia schema has the metadata schema embedded.  When a new multimedia component is created, the new fields do not appear in component.
- As a workaround, a temporary field can be added to the multimedia schema.  The new fields from metadata schema will then appear as expected.  The temporary field can then be removed from multimedia schema by administrator.
Root Cause
Resolution
The CME (Content Manager Explorer) aggressively caches schemas it reads, for performance reasons.  It ensure that schema changes done by an administrator appear in the CME, the administrator should ensure that all browser tabs with the CME are closed.  By doing this, the browser cache that contains the cached schemas will be flushed.  The next time when the administrator or content editor opens an item based on the updated schema, the latest version of the schema will be seen.
