Can SDL provide recommendations on how best to maintain the SDL Application and Translation Memory databases?
To ensure smooth running, a number of automated database maintenance operations should be performed on a regular basis; certain operations should also be initiated when specific metrics cross a certain threshold.
This article offers some examples of maintenance operations, suggested thresholds and basic guidance on actions required. It is not exhaustive but it is intended to serve as initial guidance for a customer's own internal monitoring/alerting deployment and procedures.
The article is divided into two sections:
SDL TMS/ SDL WorldServer Application Database
There are additional steps that SDL performs in its own hosting environment, such as monitoring disk space and recording database growth daily, assessing index page splits etc., but as a standard set of actions, the above constitutes a minimum of database management for the TM Application Database.
