In order to check if the WMI is corrupted run the following commands(you should not receive any errors when running these commands) :
1. Run "winmgmt /verifyrepository" in Command Prompt
2. Run "Get-WmiObject Win32_Computersystem PartOfDomain" in Powershell
Solution: Repair Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI)
NOTE: The WMI is not installed by RWS software, but is a necessary component of the operating system. If the WMI does not work properly, other applications or system components might be affected.
To resolve the issue, repair the Windows Management Instrumentation. This task required administrative rights and should be performed by an IT professional. Detailed instructions are available in
this Microsoft Technet Article.
On a Windows Desktop workstation, following simpler steps may resolve the issue:
- Open a Windows Command Prompt as Administrator
- Run the following command
winmgmt /salvagerepository
- Check whether the issue persists. If it persists, continue with the following steps:
- Run regedit.exe
- Verify that the registry value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WBEM\CIMOM\Autorecover MOFs is not empty
- Run the following command (in Administrator Command Prompt)
net stop winmgmt /y
- Run the following command (in Administrator Command Prompt)
winmgmt /resetrepository
