I would like to add some reference files such as instructions, PDFs or Style Guides to a WorldServer project for a translator. How do I do that? |
Reference Files can be added as a Project Attribute during the Project creation wizard. However, this option first needs to be configured by creating such Project Attribute in your WorldServer environment and then applying it to the relevant Project Type. To achieve the necessary configuration, follow these steps: 1- To create a Project Attribute for reference files, go to Management > Administration > Customization 2- Next to Custom Component Type, select Attributes. 3- Click on Add to add a new Attribute. The Add Custom Attributes Component window will open up. 4- Now select the Applicable Object Type as Project. 5- The Internal (API) Name is a name of your choice that should be slightly different from the External (UI) Name. For instance, Internal (API) Name: Reference_Files. External (UI) Name: Reference Files. 6- Attribute Type: select Attachment. If you want the reference files to be added to the Studio package exported for translation (WSXZ), make sure you select Include in Translation Kit. You can add a description if needed. This is how such an Attribute could look like: 7- Click OK. The Project Attribute is now created in your environment. 8- Now you need to add the Project Attribute to the relevant Project Types. By doing so, when creating a Project with a Project Type, you will be able to attach reference files to the attribute and make them available to the users involved in the translation process. Go to Management > Business Rule Linkage > Project Types and select/open the relevant Project Type. 9- In the Project Type Settings and in the General tab, make sure that the created Attribute is added to the Selected Project Attributes. Move it from the Available Project Attributes field to the Selected Project Attributes field. Here is an example of what it should look like. As you can see, the attribute Reference Material is now visible under Selected Project Attributes: 10- Click OK to save your change in the Project Type. Apply the Attribute to all relevant Project Types. This completes the configuration needed to add reference files as a Project Attribute to your Projects. Once the Attribute is applied to your Project Types, you will have the option to add your reference files during Project creation. After project creation, the reference files will be visible by selecting the Project in the Projects page and clicking on the Change Attributes button. Even easier and more practical: still in the Projects page view - enable the column corresponding to the attribute by clicking Choose columns and adding the Attribute to the visible columns in your View. The column will display the attached reference files and you will be able to download them from that column by right-clicking on each reference file and downloading them - if required. If you have selected the option Include in Translation Kit when creating the project attribute, the translator will have access to the reference files when opening the exported Studio package in Trados Studio. |
