How do I add a new Mime Type to my WorldServer environment
Rate This Article
WorldServer any version
I have a file with a specific extension that is not supported out-of-the-box in WorldServer. However, I have tested the file by changing its extension to a supported one (for instance *.txt) and it can be segmented fine with an existing filter and filter configuration. However, I would like to be able to submit my file in its native format. How can I do that?
Since this format is not present in WorldServer environment per default, you need to first add a new Mime Type for this file format to your environment. To do so
1- go to
Management > Administration > Customization
2- Select Mime Types in the scroll-down menu next to Custom component type:. The Mime Types table page will display.
3- Click on the Add button to create a new Mime Type.
4- Create a new Mime Type and associate it with an existing Filter/File Type and Filter Configuration. This is an example for the file format/file extension *.strings - which does not exist out-of-the-box:
5- Click OK. Your Mime Type is now created. When submitting your file to a new project or segmenting it in Explorer, WorldServer will recognize it as a know file type and will extract it according to the system default filter present in the Mime Type table. Multiple file extensions can be added under Extensions.
