After using the "Save target as..." function in SDL Trados Studio and want to open the translated document in Microsoft Word, the following error is displayed and the document is not opened: We're sorry. We can't open .docx because we found a problem with its contents Other error messages (depending on what file type is used) are seen when trying to open the document in SDL Trados Studio which was saved previously via Save target as...: When using the Microsoft Word 2007-2016 File Type to open document: The current configuration on stack is different than the one supplied. Expected Sdl.FileTypeSupport.Filters.MicrosoftOffice.Word.Routes.DispatchConfiguration.TextRunDispatchConfiguration, received Sdl.FileTypeSupport.Filters.MicrosoftOffice.Word.Routes.DispatchConfiguration.ParagraphDispatchConfiguration When using the Microsoft Word 2007-2013 File Type to open document: The 'w:r' start tag on line 1 position 1234 does not match the end tag of 'w:r'. Line 1, position 1234. |
PLEASE NOTE: This was reported to our Development Team and even though this worked with earlier Microsoft Word file types, the new "Microsoft Word ML 2007-2016 FileType (WordprocessingML v.2)" is working by design and it is not considered a bug. It is planned for a future release to make it not possible to overwrite an existing Microsoft Word document when using the "Save target as..." feature/function. Workaround: Do not overwrite an existing Microsoft Word documentWhen using the Save target as... function to generate a target version of the Microsoft Word document, ensure not to overwrite an existing Microsoft Word document (even if it is the source document or already create target document version).Workaround: Use Microsoft Word 2007-2013 File Type for translating the documentBefore opening the Microsoft Word document for translation, ensure that in SDL Trados Studio under File > Options File Types (or in your Project Template you use) the Microsoft Word 2007-2013 (Word 2007 v 2.0.0.0 ) file type is ticked and in the list on top of the latest Microsoft Word 2007-2016 (WordprocessingML v.2) file type. Using the earlier file type will allow to overwrite existing Microsoft Word documents using the Save target as... functionality resulting in Microsoft Word document that can be opened in Microsoft Word without error message. |
The above error message can be seen when saving a target version twice of the document and overwrite the existing file/document. |
