Trying to open a generated target translation (*.docx) document in Microsoft Word is displaying the following message: We're sorry. We can't open [file name].docx because we found a problem with its contents. Click OK will open the target document, however the table of content cannot be update as it seems to be missing/corrupt. Example: Note: When hovering over it with the mouse pointer nothing is displaying, however it is supposed to show an Update Table... label assuming the table of content is valid: |
If encountering this issue, it might be preferred not to correct the table of content in the source document. |
The problem is caused by an invalid table of content in the source document.
The Microsoft Word 2007-2016 File Type in SDL Trados Studio 2015 (or higher) handles this invalid document to still enabling the translation and creation of the document. However, when building the structure of the target document the invalid table of content is not even conform from a Microsoft Word perspective and therefore you see the message when trying to open the target document and also in matter of fact a table of content that is not existing since it wasn't able to create one based on invalid data. |
