For Content Types that use SDL Trados Studio filters, during pre-processing segmentation is performed differently in SDL TMS than in Studio and some mismatches can appear. For example, when using Trados SRX segmentation rules, Studio settings are applied in TMS and segments and paragraphs are preserved "as they are" in Studio. When using Sentence SRX, the TMS Segmentation Rules are applied and every paragraph is considered a segment. On the contrary, Trados SRX segmentation rules treat a soft return in a paragraph as a single segment, while Sentence SRX segmentation rules create a different segment with every soft return within a paragraph. |
To work around this situation, you can configure either SDL TMS or Studio to use the appropriate segmentation rule and thus avoid discrepancies. Option 1: Configure SDL TMS In SDL TMS, when exporting a package to Studio, select the Studio package format to preserve all the settings and features configured in SDL TMS without further configuration at SRX level as it already contains the SDL XLIFF with the segmentation settings. The return package preserve the settings back to SDL TMS as well. Option 2: Configure SDL Trados Studio

This is not a defect in the application, but occurs due to the different default segmentation rules used in Studio and SDL TMS:
The SDL TMS default segmentation rule is Sentence SRX (which is the segmentation rule used by all legacy/SDLX filters) in order to support as much continuity as possible until users switch from legacy to Studio filters. Studio’s default segmentation rule is Trados SRX. |
